Red Snapper Season 2026 in Panama City Beach – Dates & Fishing Info

Red snapper season is one of the most anticipated times of year here in Panama City Beach, and the 2026 season dates have officially been set. For 2026, red snapper season will be open from June 1 through October 27 in federal waters. This is when we’re able to target and keep red snapper on our deep sea fishing trips, and it’s typically some of the best fishing of the year. These fish are known for their strong fight and are some of the best eating fish in the Gulf. Trips during red snapper season fill up quickly, especially in June and July when demand is at its highest. If you’re planning a trip, it’s a good idea to book early to secure your spot. Grey Triggerfish Opens March 1st Panama City Beach

March 1st marks the reopening of Grey Triggerfish season in the Gulf of Mexico, running through May 31, and we’re fired up to get back on them. With triggerfish back in season, our main keeper species will include: • Red Grouper • Grey Triggerfish • Vermilion Snapper These have been the most consistent keeper fish on our deep sea trips out of Panama City Beach lately. Depending on conditions, we may mix in a few other species, but this lineup has been producing solid action and great eating. Triggerfish season has reliably opened March 1 through May 31 in recent years, and early spring is always one of the best times to get offshore. If you’ve been waiting for triggerfish to reopen, now’s the time to lock in your trip. NOAA has announced the Red Snapper will open from December 11, 2025 and close January 1, 2026. This is great news for any anglers looking to target Red Snapper. Fishing for Snappers in the Winter season is always really good. Low fishing pressure and cold temperatures bring the fish into shallower waters which is closer inland.

The legendary New Beginning will remain open for charters year round. Everyday is a great day to go fishing and we would love to have you on your next fishing adventure. Fish that will be open for the remainder of the 2025 year : Grey Triggerfish – Open until December 31, 2025 Vermillion Snapper – Open year round Red Grouper – Open until December 31st There are more fish species also available but these are the most commonly caught. We are still catching the larger species such as Greater Amberjack, Red Snapper, and Gag Grouper. We can take pictures and safely release. Greater Amberjack Closure

Greater Amberjack will be closing September 27, 2025. It will reopen sometime in 2026. We can still catch these large hard fighting fish, but it will be catch and release. From September 1, 2025 – September 14, 2025 all reef fish species will be open! This will be an incredible time to make a fishing trip to Panama City Beach. We are very excited for the upcoming 2 week season. The specific species open in our region to target will include : (Gag Grouper) :  09-01-2025 – 09-14-2025 (Red Snapper) : 06-01-2025 – 09-14-2025 (Greater Amberjack) : 09-01-2025 – TBA (Red Grouper) : Open Year Round (Grey Triggerfish) : 08-01-2025 – 12-31-2025 (Vermillion Snapper) : Open Year Round Trip length will play a huge role in how many species we can Target. Captain Brandon was awesome! He knew exactly where to take us and we caught a ton of fish! And had so much fun at each location. Deck hand Blake was great as well! They were both super friendly and great with my kiddos. Boat is super clean, the AC cabin is a god-send. We had a great time catching vermilion snappers, trigger fish, and amber jacks. The 6 hour trip was perfect for the kids and us. We will definitely be using him again anytime we’re down here!

What are fun trip with Legendary New Beginnings!!! Captain Brandon put us on the fish and First Mate Blake worked his butt off all day to keep the fish rolling in! We had 4 boys with us and FM Blake kept it fun and included the boys in all the things! Captain Brandon kept us on the fish to make sure we caught our limits and kept on rolling! When we were moving FM Brandon was rigging for the next stop and cleaning the whole time! We recommend them 10/10!!

It was a real good trip. The captain and first mate put us on the fish and stayed until the bite slowed. In between fishing spots, we cooled off in the A/C cabin.The First mate was there giving us tips, and helping to keep us baited up and fishing, and helped to unhook the fish. We all liked this outfit a lot and intend to do a repeat soon.
