Our Panama City Beach bottom fishing charter headed offshore into the Gulf of Mexico this week to fish productive reef structure in 100 to 200 feet of water.
Bottom fishing the reefs off Panama City Beach is what we specialize in aboard the 52-foot air-conditioned charter boat New Beginning. These reefs hold a wide variety of fish, and when conditions are right the action can be steady throughout the trip.
After arriving at the fishing grounds, it didn’t take long before the rods started bending. Fishing with fresh cut bonito and Boston mackerel, our anglers began bringing up quality fish from the bottom.
The group landed several nice red snapper along with some solid triggerfish. These species are two of the most popular fish caught on a Panama City Beach bottom fishing charter because they fight hard and make excellent table fare.
Fresh cut bait is one of the keys to successful reef fishing. On many of our trips we use bonito (little tunny) and Boston mackerel as bait while fishing the reefs. These baits work extremely well for targeting reef species like snapper, grouper, amberjack, triggerfish, sharks, and other reef dwellers.
Most of our fishing takes place on reef structure located 100 to 200 feet offshore of Panama City Beach. These areas consistently hold fish and provide great opportunities for anglers to catch keeper fish when seasons are open.
Even when certain species are out of season, anglers often get the chance to hook powerful fish and enjoy the fight before releasing them back to the reef. That’s part of what makes bottom fishing in the Gulf of Mexico so exciting.
If you’re looking for an exciting Panama City Beach bottom fishing charter, come fish with us aboard the New Beginning. Our 52-foot air-conditioned charter boat offers a smooth ride, plenty of space, and an experienced crew ready to put you on the fish.
